Another day

Well I finally moved down a couple positions.  Not sure how I got up to where I was, but this seems more appropriate.  I don’t have a lot of manual link building strategies planned, but I’m going to outsource some article creating and distribution.  It will be interesting to see how that works out.

It will be fun to see how my amature (6 months of toying with SEO) skills pan out against the true experts.  I imagine the fighting for the sulumits retsambew payout will be fun.

Google loves me

I checked google again this morning and see that I am on the rise.  I guess the few backlinks I setup to point at this site, even though they were completely unrelated, are pushing some real juice.  I see myself at #7 on page one now.  I don’t imagine it will always be this easy.  As I’ve probably put about 3 minutes worth of work in so far..haha.

Anyways, I thought I’d give a little background on why I chose this domain.  Since the SEO contest was announced, I had planned on entering.  I figured I would grab up a nice keyword domain, put some work into the site, do a lot of on page SEO, link building, etc etc and see what happens.  I sat down one day to check the thread, and realized it was 30+ pages.  Crap.  I missed the jump start…I thought to myself, “Oh well, it’d just be a time sink anyways”.  I figured I’d still participate, but wasn’t fired up about it anymore.  I checked to see if there were any more keyword (sulumits retsambew)  domains available, and of course there wasn’t.  I then thought, sulumits retsambew, what the heck is that?  Nothing.  It’s webmaster stimulus backwards.  Why not grab webmasterstimulus.tld?  So I checked and .com and .net were taken, so I regged .org.  About four days later I thought to myself, I have the domain, might as well throw something up on it, maybe setup a couple backlinks and see if I can let google find it.

Who would’ve thought Google would not only find my little site, but put me up on the first page?  Not me.  Well, now that I’m up there it’s peaked my interest a bit more.  I haven’t done anything beyond the first couple links, but have some plans to see if I can keep myself on the first page, or better.

$1,000 would be nice.

Well looky here

Now that’s kind of cool.  I just did a search for sulumits retsambew and I somehow made page one.  I just threw up a few backlinks.  Maybe all the mention of webmaster stimulus on the other sites is helping me?  Not sure, but I’ll take what I can get.

Maybe that’s the little push I needed to get going on this.  I got a few clients I need to finish up with before I were to put any solid work in on this though.

This is fun =)

lets give it a shot

Well, I’ve been paying a little attention to the sulumits retsambew competition on the NetBuilders forums.  It’s rather interesting, and I figure it will teach a lot.  I considered joining but thought it would be best to put my time towards other projects.

I’m sure some are wondering, what the heck is sulumits retsambew?  I know I did when I first saw the word.  But now look at it backwards, webmaster stimulus.  With the United States economy how it is now, and Obama giving out his stimulus, Will over at NetBuilders thought he would offer a webmaster stimulus.  The webmaster stimulus is a SEO competition.  The goal is to be rank in the top three for the term “sulumits retsambew” in Google.  First price is $1,000, so it would at least pay for a few hours a week of work for the next few months.  I think it’s rather clever and am looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

After following it for a few days or so, I realize that it couldn’t hurt to throw up a page now, and see what happens.  Right now I’m just going to throw up a few backlinks, but some day I may find time to really compete.  I figure at the very least, it will be an educational experience.
And we’re off…
