New SEO Contest

Well, my sulumits retsambew entry was bouncing back and forth between #5 and no where right as the results were in. I didn’t end up in the top, but that was no surprise.

There is now another SEO contest going on called oes tsetnoc. This is another webmaster stimulus of sorts. With the top prize being $1,000. I figured with all the links still coming in here, might as well see if I can put myself up in the top positions.

The contest is sponsored by PromoJunkie. Which I had never heard of before this. They seem like a cool forum, so I’ll sign up and lurk around for a bit.

Well anyways. It’s Monday, and I have a crap load of work to get to. Best of luck to everyone.

Clock is ticking…

Well there is one day left in the sulumits retsambew contest.  This entry went down to page five for a bit – but Google once again showed some love and pushed me up to #4 (at least what I see).  Only time can tell (about a day and a half) until the contest is finished.  I learned a lot of interesting things during this contest, and watching the results bouncing around like they have been is very interesting.
Thanks Will for running an excellent contest, and I can’t wait to see who walks away with cash in their pockets.

The final month

Well there’s about a month now until this contest is over.  Time has gone by quickly.  Who would’ve though this sulumits retsambew contest would’ve gone by so quickly.  It seems like just the other day I started.

And, at least to me, I’m seeing myself in position #3.  I went through a couple proxies to bypass cookies and so I wasn’t logged into Google.  I’m not sure how accurate that is, but it’s motivation enough.  Google thinks I’m #3 in some datacenter.

I’ve started an article marketing campaign, and hoping to see some solid results.  I also am going to go through and build as many links as I can.  I figure I’ll put the final burst of effort into this contest now, and hope that the results begin to show over the next few weeks.

I have to say, I’ve been real lazy and haven’t done much at all, but let’s hope what I do is enough.

Best of luck to everyone on the final stretch.

Keeping Busy

Well I’ve been staying busy the last few weeks.  Been slacking a lot on this blog, and the whole sulumits retsambew SEO contest as well.  For some reason I keep seeing this site ranked #2, but when using a datacenter checker, or SERP checker I see myself at #4.  I wonder why that is.

Maybe Google is using cookies to track me, and thinks webmasterstimulus.org is more important to me, that anywhere else…or maybe IP based.  *shrug* who knows.

I’ve been staying busy messing around with lots of other projects recently.  Messing around in affiliate marketing, and launched a personal blog, Steve Fortuna .com.  Never been much of a blogger — it’s more of just a way to get my name out there in case someone is Googling for me.

Well I figure I’ll expose my secrets to SEO………..wait for it………..Backlinks!  Who would’ve thought.  I’ve posted a couple articles, and put backlinks on a bunch of my other sites.  That’s it.  I guess Google likes my other sites, and in turn trusts their opinion on this site.  I’m not complaining.

Well let’s hope I can push up another couple positions, or the rest of the world see’s I’m at #2.  Best of luck to everyone.

Google Loves Me

As I checked the search results for sulumits retsambew today, I was suprised that I didn’t see myself right away.  I had been sitting at around position 5-8 for the last couple weeks.  I actually went to the second page, didn’t see myself there and thought what the heck.

Turns out Google pushed me up to position #2!  Whoa!  I love you too Google.  I didn’t even look in the top positions at first.  It seems like my backlinks I setup on sites are pushing some real weight.  I’m wondering why, as they’re not related at all…But then I think, what is related to sulumits retsambew?  Nothing!  So maybe I’ll luck out there.

As far as promotion on this site,  I haven’t really been doing much at all recently.  I just imagine the work I put in a couple weeks ago is starting to pay off.  I have been taking on a bunch of other projects recently, so time is a big issue.  My slow yet powerful (it seems) promotion will continue, as I don’t imagine I’ll be sitting up top for long without active promotion.

This is fun.

Boing Boing Boing

Haha.  That sums up the latest moves by Google.  My sulumits retsambew entry, webmasterstimulus.org, has somehow managed to wiggle into the top five.  Since my last post, I saw it drop to page two, then to page twenty seven, and then settled in at fourteen.

I thought meh, whatever.  It’s expected for it to bounce around, especially with all the sudden competition.  But now, much to my suprise, I’ve arrived at page one.  I see myself at position number five.  Pretty neat.  I am still working on my article distribution.  Writing is not my strong point, and my outsourced articles came back horrible.  Luckily I have an option to have them redone for no cost, except time.

I’m hoping that’s the boost I need to solidify my position on page one.  My goal for this contest is to end up on page one.  Being as new to SEO as I am, I feel that’s a reasonable goal.  Ideally, I’d be number one of course, but let’s be realistic.  I’m running against the pros here.

Best of luck to everyone.

Page one

SEO is just becoming more and more confusing.  I haven’t put any work into this site for weeks now.  I’ve been focusing all my efforts on another project of mine that has been pretty exciting.  The sulumits restambew contest has taken a back seat for now.  But nonetheless, the big G has decided to put me up on page one.  Who knows?  I feel like too many links on pages of mine will drop the overall strength of the outgoing links.  So I removed some links, like the sulumits retsambew links, in exchange for my new Hubits Arcade links.

I just don’t understand the reasoning behind putting me up on page one.  Well, I’m not one to complain about good things.

And back up

Well after getting sent all the way down to page 14, I managed to sneak my way back to page 2 for the sulumits retsambew search term.  I have to say, I’ve recently picked up another exciting project, and haven’t really put much into this site.  The project is simply an arcade website.  I think it can be fun to see what I can make of it.  Anyways, the arcade is Hubits, or http://www.hubits.com.

It’s very interesting to see how the search results are fluxuating and reading others posts.  I have to say I’ve already learned a few good things that I didn’t know before.  One example is I always knew anchor text was very important, but now I’m finding that the text surrounding it can be important as well.  Relevance of links is obviously helpful, but irrelevant links at one point, can be turned into relevant links with some text added appropriatly.

I’m sure I’ll learn a lot more throughout this contest.

Down down down down….

And down I go.  Back to page 4 or so.  I guess I saw it coming, just didn’t expect to go this low.  Maybe this is a new keywords version of sandboxing?  Or maybe I messed up with some SEO tactics and made big ol google unhappy.  Whatever the case, I’m going to stick to my plan and see what happens.

Sulumits Retsambew!

Well not much going on this weekend.  Google has been bumping me back and forth between page one and two.  Weee.  Nothing very exciting with SEO this weekend, but there is something I am excited about.

Just got back from the dog breeders and put a down payment on some short haired wheaten terriers!  Woo.  Getting a dog.  Some pics of wheatens can be found at: http://www.wheatendogs.com/

Anyways, have some plans of trying some more SEO.  Going to see if I can get some backlinks from a few friends that run websites.  Misc blogs and a few Gentoo related sites.  We’ll see.  Article distribution is still planned, but this process takes a little longer.

The wordpress sulumits retsambew guy got their account suspended on wordpress.org.  A real bummer, I just hope too much work wasn’t put into it.  From the looks of the content on the page, there wasn’t.  Bummer.
